starting to walk

Our friend David came by to take some photos of us and Rudy happened to be walking down the sidewalk when he arrived. It was one of the first days he had taken a 'long' (50 yds) walk. Pretty great to capture it this way!

playing in the pots

S. Louis

Rudy and I spent a week in St. Louis. John came down for the weekend and we went to the zoo with Gran (Papa was in Hungary and England). I am very conflicted about caging animals up in zoos, but I did love seeing the giraffes, the elephants and camels. Such beautiful creatures. Rudy seemed to really appreciate it for the first time too. It was great to see his reaction to the bears and monkeys especially.

We went on a train ride through the zoo little knowing that the beginning of the ride took you through a dark and very noisy tunnel. Here are Rudy's thoughts on the matter -

Happier days...

Gran and Rudy bonding over her fabulous jewelry

Mum and Dad's garden was in full bloom and so relaxing and peaceful. We spent many hours on the porch with cups of tea and the newspaper. Rudy also enjoyed the aftermath of a huge rainstorm - playing in the water filled pots with Gran.

a few things

Rudy and his pal Theo Lundin

We watched this digger every day for weeks (Rudy calls it "diggerdiggerdigger") and one day the guy who drives it came to say hi and see if Rudy wanted a ride. Rudy absolutely loved it. He sat in the seat and chatted and chatted, touching the buttons, the wheel and sticks.

City Beach: We spent a hot Saturday at the beach in May. The water was still very COLD! I thought it was as cold as Maine, but John is convinced that it wasn't, and that nothing can be as cold as Maine water!

Placing a very important call

priceless...

Home

These were taken at the beginning of May. Still scooting around on his behind and crawling a little. Rudy spent hours with John 'working on' Dada's bike. As you can see it was pretty cold even in May.

The shirt below is one that the Winter kids all wore! Can you tell Mum and Dad were hip hippies?!

Rudy's favorite things - a wooden train, a ball, and (Friday) our cat. This was his spot to stand before he started 'cruising' the furniture.

So we have a lot to catch up on now that we have our new computer! We'll start with our trip to Nashville in April for a Harper family get together.

Singing and eating with B

Working industriously with Big Poppy and Uncle Pete.

Poking Uncle Pete's eyes out and apologizing later!

Chillin' with Uncle Ryan and Auntie MK.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNE!!!! Anne and Mary Katherine ran a half marathon on Anne's birthday! Anne, we hope Nashville is treating you well.

Hanging out with Dada and Weezie. Rudy and Weezie became fast friends. When we came home Rudy was looking all over the house for her.
