Goodbye Janey

Janey and her parents are moving to California, and so this week we bid them a sad farewell. The first two shots are of R & J last summer. They have grown up so much! The last two shots were taken post-ice cream in the mad toddler sugar rush! Rudy really hasn't had much sugar at all and so this induced a crazy fit of jumping, giggling and running. It was fun to watch but insanity trying to get to bed!

The weather in Chicago wasn't the greatest on July 4th...rain. Drats!

Thankfully, we had a very pleasant July 3rd. Or, I guess, "Independence Eve."

Festivities included Triona, Johanna, and Margot's visit to "Trader Joes," while Rudy and I headed out with the running stroller to visit the Uptown Fire Station, the skate park, and the "dog beach."

Tony at Beans & Bagels made an amazing pizza, which we enjoyed as an afternoon, picnic-y snack, accompanied by a nice bottle of white wine (courtesy of Triona).

I have to say I am a sucker for all the pretty little girl clothes out there. Here's a gorgeous antique dress that B found for Margot. We had to have an impromptu photo shoot on the couch to document her in it before it's too small for the wee lass.

We went over to Janie's house for a back yard pool party last weekend.
Here, Rudy is being an excavator. He scooped and dumped sand with his "bucket" all in slooooow motion making deep rumbling noises. No-one could break his concentration, not even Jane!

Margot's eyes seem to be getting bluer by the day and the constellation of baby acne shifts across her face with every hour. She's gaining weight (as you can see in the bottom photo very well) and I even see the hint of a smile every now and then. Rudy's favorite game to "play" with Margot is to pull her socks off, or look at her face very closely "like a doctor does"! He also tried to bite her ear, which I am happy to say was averted in the nick of time.
